China’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office at Geneva and Other International Organizations in Switzerland Ambassador Jia Guide Meets with H.E. Ambassador Zaheer Laher, Permanent Representative of South Africa

On July 29, 2026, Ambassador Jia Guide, Permanent Representative of China to the United Nations Office at Geneva and other international organizations in Switzerland, met with H.E. Ambassador Zaheer Laher, Permanent Representative of South Africa.

Ambassador Jia Guide stated that recently, China and South Africa have continued to implement the important consensus reached by the two Heads of State, further advancing the China-South Africa comprehensive strategic partnership for the new era. As developing countries, the two sides maintain close coordination on multilateral platforms including the United Nations, the G20 and BRICS. China stands ready to work with South Africa to deepen practical cooperation across human rights, humanitarian affairs, health, telecommunications, science and technology, contribute actively to advancing global governance reform, and uphold the common interests of all Global South countries.

Ambassador Zaheer Laher stated that South Africa attaches great importance to its relations with China and has always regarded China as a reliable partner. The two sides share similar positions in multilateral affairs and enjoy broad prospects for cooperation. South Africa looks forward to working with China to implement the consensus reached by the two Heads of State, continue to support each other on issues concerning each other’s core interests, enhance coordination and uphold multilateralism.
